This article lists 40 Power Diode MCQs for engineering students. All the Power Diode Questions & Answers given below include a hint and a link wherever possible to the relevant topic. This is helpful for users who are preparing for their exams, interviews, or professionals who would like to brush up on the fundamentals of  Power Diode.

Diodes are the basic electric component made of semiconducting material. It behaves in a unidirectional way in terms of conducting current. It conducts for only positive voltages and blocks reverse currents.

Rectification can be obtained using semiconducting diodes. For operating large voltages or blocking high reverse currents a small diode of semiconducting material is not enough. For these purposes, power diodes are introduced.

Power Diodes significantly have a large junction of PN so they can tolerate larger forward voltages and block high reverse currents. A semiconductor diode having a junction large is referred to as Power Semiconductor Diode simply known as Power Diode.

Power Diodes because of larger junction areas don't fit for higher frequencies applications. Schottky diodes are introduced for these purposes due to their shorter reverse time of recovery. Uncontrolled power rectification is provided by making use of power diodes.
