This article lists 100 PN Junction Diodes MCQs for Engineering Students. All the PN Junction Diodes Questions & Answers given below includes solution and link wherever possible to the relevant topic. This is helpful for users who are preparing for their exams, interviews, or professionals who would like to brush up their fundamentals on the PN junction diode.

The diodes are non-ohmic conductors which means the diodes don't obey the ohms law. The filament lamps, transistors, thyristors, electrolytes, semiconductors, diodes, etc are examples of non-ohmic conductors. The nichrome wires, silver, metals, copper wires, resistors, etc are examples of ohmic conductors.

The PN junction diodes are much smaller in size, cheaper, operate with a low voltage source, and they are strong and not easily destroyed. The general purpose PN junction diodes use only two layers they are n-type layer and the p-type layer. The purpose PN junction diodes cannot be used for microwave applications.

In PN junction diodes the cut-in voltage is large that is about 0.7 V and the ideal factor is about 1.2-2.0 due to recombination in depletion layers. The electricity in this diode flows only in one direction and it is used for rectification.

The reverse bias in the PN junction diode permanently damages the depletion region and the width of the depletion region is large because of n and p region is lightly doped. The PN junction diodes need less power for the operation and use silicon and germanium materials.
