Kirchhoff Law Question & Answers

November 28, 2022 By WatElectronics

This article lists 50 Kirchhoff's Law MCQs for engineering students. All the Kirchhoff's Law Questions & Answers given below include a hint and a link wherever possible to the relevant topic. This is helpful for users who are preparing for their exams, or interviews, or professionals who would like to brush up on the fundamentals of Kirchhoff's Law.

Laws dealing with the currents and potential differences in lumped element models of the electrical circuits are known as Kirchhoff's Circuit Laws. A physicist in Germany named Gustave Kirchhoff was the first to describe these laws. These laws are widely utilized in Electrical engineering.

Kirchhoff's Laws are also referred to as Kirchhoff's Rules in analyzing electrical circuitry. In both frequency and time domains, these laws are applied and lay the network analysis base. For the circuits of AC and DC these laws remain accurate but the frequency where EM wavelengths are greater in comparison with circuits.

The first law of Kirchhoff deals with the current entered at junctions and is also referred to as Kirchoff's Law of current or Kirchhoff's Junction Rule. Any Electrical circuitry with a junction must have the ‘summation of current entered at the junction equivalent to the summation of current left the junction’.

The second law of Kirchhoff's deals with the potential differences or voltage flowing in the loop i.e. closed. It is also referred to as Kirchhoff's Voltage Law or Kirchhoff's Loop Rule. As per this law 'Sum of potential differences around any loop i.e., closed is 0'. To apply these laws and analyze circuits model must be applied to the respective circuit otherwise laws are not applied.
