This article lists 75 Virtual LAN MCQs for engineering students. All the Virtual LAN Questions & Answers below include a hint and a link to the relevant topic wherever possible. This is helpful for users who are preparing for their exams, interviews, or professionals who would like to brush up on the fundamentals of Virtual LAN.

VLAN stands for Virtual LAN whereas LAN stands for Local area network. It is a kind of network formed from one or more combinations of physical LANs, which are connected through a switch or bridge to work virtually.

VLAN is easy to configure, more flexible, easy to modify, less expensive, and removes the latency. It reduces the use of network devices, which increases the efficiency of the network and resolves security and management problems.

VLAN enables faster communication, greater scalability, and improves network management. Virtual LAN technology is divided into three types such as protocol, static and dynamic VLANs. VLAN protocol design depends on IEEE 802.1Q.

It reduces the size of broadcast domains on the network, in this no need to reconfigure the routers to reduce the use of devices. Untagged packets are allowed to the MAC-based VLANs. MAC addresses should have proper VLAN IDs.

VLAN uses ISP and VTP as protocols, so no additional hardware and cabling is required. An injected packet may lead to cyber-attacks. Due to interoperability issues, packets cannot move forward traffic to other VLANs.
