Pulse Code Modulation Question & Answers

September 17, 2022 By WatElectronics

This article lists 50 Pulse Code Modulation MCQs for engineering students. All the Pulse Code Modulation Questions & Answers given below include a hint and a link wherever possible to the relevant topic. This is helpful for users who are preparing for their exams, interviews, or professionals who would like to brush up on the fundamentals of Pulse Code Modulation.

The pulse code modulation comes under the digital pulse modulation technique. The pulse amplitude, pulse width, and pulse position modulations come under the analog pulse modulation technique. Pulse code modulation is a more complex system when compared to pulse position, pulse amplitude, and pulse width modulations.

The pulse code modulation system is divided into three parts they are the transmitter, transmission path, and receiver. The regenerative repeaters are used in the transmission path, whereas in transmitter sections sampling, quantizing, and encoding steps are used.

The components used in the PCM receiver section are regeneration of impaired signal, decoding, and demodulation. The regenerative repeater component in the PCM transmission path is used to improve the quality of a signal.

The pulse code modulation system is complex when compared to differential pulse code modulation. The transmission bandwidth requirement is less in differential pulse code modulation whereas in pulse code modulation the transmission bandwidth requirement is high.
