This article lists 100 Potentiometer MCQs for engineering students. All the Potentiometer Questions & Answers given below include a hint and a link wherever possible to the relevant topic. This is helpful for users who are preparing for their exams, interviews, or professionals who would like to brush up on the fundamentals of Potentiometer.

The potentiometers are used to calibrate the DC voltmeter, and DC ammeter, and measure resistance. The resolution, non-linearity, and accuracy (0.1% or better) are the parameters of potentiometers. The potentiometers are used for drug analysis in the pharmaceutical industry, analysis of pollutants in water, in the food industry for analysis of quality, and used as analytical tools in textiles, explosive energy, paints, papers, and so on.

The simple slide wire potentiometer consists of the reference voltage, galvanometer, unknown voltage, resistance wire, and sliding contact. The manual, self-balancing, carbon film, and plastic film potentiometers are types of potentiometers.

The carbon composition, wire wound, conductive plastic, and cermet are the materials used for potentiometers. The dirt accumulation and friction are the operational problems with a potentiometer.

The single linear slider potentiometer is used for single channel control, a dual slide potentiometer is used for stereo control in professional audio, a multi-turn slide linear potentiometer is used where high precision and resolution are required, and the motorized fader is automatically adjusted by a servo motor and it is used where manual and automatic adjustment is required.
