Open Collector Question & Answers

May 27, 2022 By WatElectronics

This article lists 100 Open Collector MCQs for Engineering Students. All the Open Collector Questions & Answers given below includes solution and link wherever possible to the relevant topic. This is helpful for users who are preparing for their exams and interviews, or professionals who would like to brush up on the fundamentals of the open collector.

The transistor-transistor logic gate families are categorized into three types they are totem pole, three-stage output, and open-collector output. In TTL open collector NAND gate the output is taken from the open collector that's why it is referred to as an open collector.

The complete circuit of the TTL open collector NAND gate is divided into three sections: the input section, the phase splitter section, and the third one is output section. In the input section, we give input and the output is taken from the output section.

The phase splitter is one type of BJT which is used to divide the signals into more than one or multiple phases. The phase splitter is also called a phase inverter. The cathodyne-phase inverter, transformer, cross-coupled, para-phase, and Schmidt are a few types of phase splitters.

In an open collector, the power dissipation is high due to the current flowing and the operating speed is low when compared to the totem pole. The open collector is also known as an open drain and it is a common type of digital signal which provides open and ground.
