Electronic filters such as active filters are a class of analog type filters designed with passive components RLC and active components as an op-amp. The purpose of the op-amp in an active filter for measuring the accurate performance and predictability of the filter.

Active filters are classified into 4 types: Butterworth, Chebyshev, Bessel, and Elliptical. Each of these filters is designed using RLC components and poses different characteristics according to the design and applied input.

Active filters come with different configurations, such as Sallen-key, VCVC, state variable filter, dual amplifier bandpass, wien notch, multiple feedback filter, fliege, and Akerberg Mossberg configurations.  HPF, LPF, BPF, and BSF are the transfer functions of active filters.

Active filter benefits in terms of zero insertion loss, inter-stage isolation, zero harmonics, and zero loading time. But limits in terms of the complex based control system, complicated in handling large power and frequency limit range. The applications of active filters include feedback of phase, measurement circuits, and channel separation.
