Noise Margin Question & Answers

November 1, 2022 By WatElectronics

This article lists 50 Noise Margin MCQs for engineering students. All the Noise Margin Questions & Answers given below include a hint and a link wherever possible to the relevant topic. This is helpful for users who are preparing for their exams, or interviews, or professionals who would like to brush up on the fundamentals of Noise Margin.

The noise margin explains what margin is available for noise and to what extent the noise is allowed so that we can have a proper extraction of logic 1 and 0. In digital circuits, we don’t receive only two voltages but practically we may receive a range of voltages.

There is a range of voltages, so based on the received voltage we identify whether the received signal is logic 1 or logic 0. The received voltage range will get wider based on noise in the circuit, so if noise is more than the range of that voltage get wider.

The noise margin is required for errorless transmission, it is one of the parameters that allow us to determine the allowable noise voltage on the input so that the output will not be corrupted.  In simple words, this parameter tells how much noise is present in a gate. The noise margin is one of the characteristics of the logic family.

So, it is a measure of design margins used to check whether circuits are working properly in specified conditions or not. Here, noise sources mainly include the power supply, operation environment, radiation waves, and electric & magnetic fields.
