A clamper circuit is a DC type restorer which is biased based on the quantity of voltage defined by the voltage source.

It shifts the applied input signal to either positive or negative output voltage levels. It comprises 3 main components resistor, a capacitor for storing charge, and a diode for switching purposes. They have been classified into 3 types positive clamper, biased clamper, and negative clamper.

In positive type clamper, the wave is completely shifted towards positive values whereas in negative clamper the wave is completely shifted towards negative side.

The output from the clamper circuit is obtained based on the diode position. They mainly focus on shifting the DC level. Clamper circuits are mainly used in applications such as Sonars, radar systems, and distortion removers. They benefit in terms of improving reverse recovery time, and minimizing SNR level.
