The world of digital electronics deals with billions of ICs designed with numerous logic gates such as AND, OR, NOT, XOR, etc. These gates are designed according to various digital logic families. Digital logic families are classified into 2 types Uni-polar and Bi-polar.

A uni-polar has a single polarity family such as PMOS, NMOS, and CMOS. Whereas a bi-polar is a dual polarity family such as Non-saturated (Schottky TTL, Emitter Coupled Logic) and Saturated (RTL, DTL, and TTL).

TTL abbreviated as Transistor-Transistor Logic was invented by James in 1961 is a logic
used for designing ICs for application-specific. TTL is designed using BJTs comprising of 2 transistors where one transistor performs a logic function and another transistor performs
amplification.

TTLs are classified into 6 types namely Standard TTL, Schottky TTL, High power TTL,
Low power TTL, and Advanced Schottky TTL. The performance of TTL depends on FAN
out (10), power dissipation, noise margin, and propagation delay.

The advantages of TTL are they are easy to interface, immune to electric shocks, and good
noise margin. They limit high current utilization, high power consumption, and less fan-out. TTL is used in computers, synthesizers, and test equipment’s
