A sensor is an electronic device that detects physical property within a bounded area and represents it in digital form. They are available in a large number of varieties designed based on physical parameters like humidity, temperature, moisture, motion, etc being measured. Among which a sensor that measures the humidity value within the area and represents digitally on screen is called a humidity sensor.

Basically, the humidity of air contains a concentration of water in vapor form which is a combination of liquid and gas. This humidity is released into the environment from appliances such as air conditions, frizz, and other sources. The humidity sensor measuring the humidity value within the environment mainly depends on the temperature and humidity factor of water vapor which is calculated or represented using absolute and relative humidity factors.

They are further classified based on the substance (resistive, capacitive, thermal conductivity, or resonant frequency) used. Hygrometers, DHT11, HIH-3605 (Honeywell), SHT11 (Sensiron), and SHT15 (Sensiron) are a few examples of humidity sensors.

They benefit in terms of wide range coverage, measures relative humidity, provide efficient results, greater design freedom, and depend on log values. But limit in terms of complex based circuit and requires calibration on regular base, maximum temperature characteristics, difficulty in log conversion leads to disruption in obtaining linear characteristics and is affected to interference easily.
