The cascode amplifier is also a two-stage amplifier that can be made from a combination of a transconductance amplifier and a buffer amplifier and any other combination is also possible.

The cascode amplifier gives better gain, improved impedance gives an improvement in the bandwidth, better stability, high output, high input impedance, high slew rate, etc.

The cascode amplifier is generally constructed using BJT circuits or FET circuits. The cascode amplifiers are a combination of common emitter and common base amplifiers. The common base configuration will cover more bandwidth and more voltage gain when compared with a common emitter configuration.

The problem in the common base configuration is a low input impedance and that can be avoided by using the common emitter configuration before the common base amplifier. If we use CE configuration before CB configuration then the low input impedance problem will get eliminated and also the CE has moderate input and output impedances.
