The bridge rectifier is a type of full-wave rectifier, which rectifies the complete waveform. It consists of three important components they are a transformer, four diodes, and load resistance. The diodes in the rectifier are connected in the form of a bridge and the main function of this is to convert AC to DC.

The bridge rectifier consists of four diodes, and its maximum rectification efficiency is 81.2%, and its ripple factor is 48%.  The transformer utilization factor of this rectifier is 0.812 and the output frequency is equal to 2f. It is an AC to DC converter and its form factor value is 1.11.

In a bridge rectifier, the transformer is not required. The standard form of DBR is Diode Bridge Rectifier. The bridge rectifiers are categorized into three types they are uncontrolled, fully controlled, and half controlled bridge rectifiers.  This rectifier consists of diodes, transformer, regulators, and filtering devices.

When source voltage is negative in bridge rectifier then d1 and d2 diodes blocks whereas the diode d3 and d4 conduct similarly when the source voltage is positive in bridge rectifier d1 and d2 diodes conduct whereas diode d3 and d4 block. These rectifiers are more efficient, it has less ripple factor value, the circuit complexity is more, the voltage regulations are good, and the voltage across the diode is high.
